Buzz: Arjun to join hands with Vijay for Lokesh Kanagaraj's most-awaited Thalapathy 67

Vijay's next release is Vamshi Paidipally's Varisu (Vaarasudu in Telugu). The family drama which is being bankrolled by Tollywood producer Dil Raju is slated for a release in January 2023. However, the project fans of the star are eagerly looking forward to is Thalapathy 67 (tentative title) which will have Lokesh Kanagaraj at the helm.

The Vikram filmmaker is currently busy with location scouting for the movie, the story of which is said to be set in the Mumbai backdrop. A few days ago, an assistant director of Lokesh informed through his Instagram page that the team was in Virar.

Lokesh has been tight-lipped about details of Thalapathy 67 despite various rumours doing the rounds. Samantha playing the role of a cop and Vijay essaying a veteran gangster are few of the speculations that have been going viral. It was also heard that the movie will have six antagonists, including Sanjay Dutt, and two heroines.

Mollywood actor Prithviraj being approached to play one of the antagonists for the project is another unconfirmed report that left the fans elated. Though the film is expected to go on floors, it is more or less confirmed that a few characters from Vikram will also join the 'Lokesh Cinematic Universe'.

The latest news is that veteran actor Arjun will be seen playing a crucial role in Thalapathy 67. If everything goes well, this will be the first time Arjun and Vijay will share screen presence. The former has acted along with Sivakarthikeyan, Vishal and Vijay Antony among others in recent times.

Thalapathy 67, which is likely to be a release on Deepavali 2023, would be the most expected Tamil film next year, thanks to the credibility Lokesh attained with the success of his recent outing Vikram.
