The shooting of the much-hyped AK 61 (tentative title), starring Ajith in the lead, commenced in Hyderabad a few weeks ago. Though the project was initially supposed to begin before the release of the star's previous outing Valimai, the makers postponed their plans for a while.
Billed as a heist thriller, it was heard recently that a set of Chennai's Mount Road was erected in Hyderabad. Though there are various reports doing the rounds about Ajith playing a dual role, it is heard that the star will be essaying only one role, but will be sporting two appearances in the movie.
The names of Tabu, Aditi Rao Hydari and Rakul Preet Singh surfaced on social media with regard to the movie's female lead. However, it looks like the role is going to be bagged by Manju Warrier who made her Tamil debut with Vetri Maaran's Dhanush-starrer Asuran (streaming on Amazon Prime Video).
Though an official announcement is awaited, a few trustable sources say that the versatile Malayalam actress has come on board and that it is just a matter of time before the team announces the same. AK 61 brings together Ajith, director H Vinoth and producer Boney Kapoor for the third time.
Ghibran and Nirav Shah were roped in earlier to compose music and crank the camera respectively. The former had composed the background score for Valimai while the latter had worked as the cinematographer in the action flick which was released earlier this year.
AK 61 is being planned as a theatrical release for Deepavali this year. Vedalam (streaming on MX Player), which released in 2015, was the last film of Ajith which hit the screens for the big festival. Fans of the star are eagerly waiting with bated breath for an update on the movie's cast and crew details.
