Arya's film with Shakti Soundar Rajan was titled Captain, and an announcement on the same was made by the makers last year. They have now revealed the movie's first look. It has Arya seen sporting a commando uniform and wielding a gun with his eyes closed.

The project is the actor and director's second collaboration after Teddy which had a direct release on Disney+ Hotstar. Billed as an action flick, the movie has Aishwarya Lekshmi playing the female lead while Simran, Kavya Shetty, Bharath Raj and Harish Uthaman among others will be seen essaying key roles. The makers have released the posters with Tamil, Telugu and English title fonts.

Shakti has taken to his social media page to thank Arya for letting him make his dream come true. He tweeted, "Thanks @arya_offl bro & @ThinkStudiosInd for the trust to let my imagination go WILD! Here's the #CaptainFirstLook!! (sic)." Imman is composing music for the film, the release date of which will be announced later. It is likely that the movie will be released later this year.

Produced by Arya’s production banner The Show People and Think Studios, Captain has editing by Pradeep E Raghav and lyrics by Madhan Karky. The makers had roped in R Sakti Saravanan to compose action choreography, while V Arun Raj and SS Moorthy are handling its VFX department and art direction respectively.

The crew has shot a lion's share of the film in the dense forests of some of the states in North India, while its final schedule was completed in Kulu Manali.

Anand Shankar's Enemy (streaming on SonyLIV) was the last outing of Arya; it had him sharing screen space with Vishal after 10 years.
