The theatre group Chetana turned 51. Their recent production, Mahatma Banam Gandhi which features Anirban Chakrabarti, Sujan Mukhopadhyay, and others, will be staged at the Academy of Fine Arts. But the group’s patriarch, Arun Mukhopadhyay, will give it a miss as he is not well. Sujan shared a message on behalf of his father by sharing a video from the hospital.

Arun Mukhopadhyay is seen in the video in a hospital dress. He is trying to walk with the help of a walker. There is someone behind him to help. It is not known what happened to him. However, it is assumed that he is sick due to age-related complications. The video was shared on the official page of Chetana Natyagosthi. Sujan's voice is in the background. In the video, he said, “I am Sujan Mukherjee. I am talking on behalf of Arun Mukherjee because he is sick and doesn't want to talk. But it is the 51st birthday of Chetana. he expressed gratitude to all the theatre lovers on behalf of Chetana. He congratulated them and wished them all the best for being by Chetana's side for so many years.”

Sujan further said, “This may be the first time he can't be present on Chetana's birthday on the Academy's stage. But wishing for his recovery, we will stage the play Mahatma Banam Gandhi that was translated by him at 6 pm… See you then, friends!”
