The second single, Chola Chola, from Mani Ratnam's Ponniyin Selvan, was released a few days ago. The song, which celebrates the brave warrior Aditya Karikalan played by Vikram, is on the verge of clocking 10 million views on YouTube. Makers have now unveiled a short BTS video from the song which has Vikram enjoying his dance sequence.
Mani Ratnam is seen giving instructions to more than 100 crew members. Dance choreographer Brindha, too, is seen enthusiastically working with her moves. The song was released in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Kannada and Malayalam.
Sathya Prakash, VM Mahalingam and Nakul Abhyankar have lent voice for the Tamil track which has lyrics penned by Ilango Krishnan. The lyric video of Chola Chola also featured Aishwarya Rai in it. The lyrics of the song also touches upon the romance between Aditya and Nandini, essayed by Vikram and Aishwarya respectively.
This is the second project that brings both the actors together after Raavanan which also had Mani at the helm. The trailer of Ponniyin Selvan is expected to be released in the first week of September. The big-budget film bankrolled by Lyca Productions and Madras Talkies will release in multiple languages on September 30.
The movie will have a box office clash with Hrithik Roshan-Saif Ali Khan's Vikram Vedha at the Bollywood box office. Dhanush's Naane Varuven is also said to be releasing in theatres on the same day, though a confirmation is awaited.
Karthi, Trisha and Jayam Ravi play other leading roles in Ponniyin Selvan which has important characters essayed by Prakash Raj, Sarath Kumar, Parthiban and Jayaram. Ravi Varman and Thota Tharani have handled cinematography and art direction respectively for the mammoth project which is the most-awaited by Tamil movie buffs in 2022.
