A new poster and teaser have been unveiled for the upcoming Chucky TV series, the latest addition to the popular horror franchise Child’s Play. The new teasers come out just two days after the series had wrapped up production.

Revolving around the story of a children’s doll that gets possessed by the soul of a serial killer and goes on a murderous rampage, the Child’s Play franchise has gained a cult status among horror fans for its unique take on the slasher film genre, without compromising on the gore and dark elements. The new series is created by Don Mancini, who is also known as the mind behind the franchise.

The teaser, released by the American channel, Syfy, which handles the show’s production, shows the red haired ‘good guy’ doll chanting a few lines of the spell which had initially caused a dying killer’s soul to take up residence in the toy. The doll’s glowing blue eyes give out a haunting stare, in chilling attribution to the last line of the spell, ‘I died, but I’m still gonna kill you’.

Brad Dourif, who had voiced the eponymous character in the initial films of the franchise, will reprise his most well-known role as the voice of Chucky in the series, apart from Zackary Arthur, Teo Briones, Alyvia Alyn Lind, Björgvin Arnarson and Fiona Dourif. The series will follow the events of the movie Cult of Chucky, where a woman who survived Chucky’s rampage finds herself the target of the killer doll once again.

The upcoming TV series is slated to release in the United States on Syfy and the USA Network, on October 12.
