Festival outings are a major draw for A-list hero-led films across the country. This also means that there is a problem of plenty on most of these special days. This Sankranti, as many as 5 Telugu films were set to battle it out at the box office in AP/Telangana, a market spread that would get further divided in other states, like, for instance, Tamil Nadu, which has its own share of movies hitting theatres. Guntur Kaaram, Saindhav, Naa Saami Ranga, HanuMan and Eagle were set to release for Sankranti, but the latter has now pulled out of this draw and sought a solo outing.
Ravi Teja, whose last, Tiger Nageswara Rao, sank at the box office after a clash with Nandamuri Balakrishna’s Bhagavanth Kesari, has moved his film Eagle ahead not by a couple of weeks, but a whole month, as it turns out. Earlier today, it was reported that the film by Karthik Gattamneni would be in theatres for Republic Day, which is also the leading man’s birthday, but the latest is that the makers have chosen to stick to a solo release on February 9. Tillu Square, the sequel of DJ Tillu, which was slated for that date, has now been pushed ahead. It is not known at this time if Yaatra 2 will also follow suit.
Ravi Teja plays a professional assassin in the action thriller, in which he is paired with Kavya Thapar. In the trailer, his character is described with the allegory, “He who uses weapons to cause destruction is a demon; he who uses weapons to stop destruction is a god.” Also on the cast are Anupama Parameswaran, Navdeep, Madhoo, Vinay Rai, Srinivas Avasarala, Srinivas Reddy, Ajay Ghosh, among others. The film, which has been censored and got U/A rating without cuts or mutes, has music by Davzand.
