Santhanam is gearing up for his first outing this year as DD Returns is set for a release on July 28. S Prem Anand has directed the project which has Surbhi, Motta Rajendran, Redin Kingsley, Maran, Pradeep Rawat and Masoom Shankar among others essaying key roles in it.

Billed as a horror-comedy, the film's story revolves around a bunch of people who get trapped in an old building that is possessed by spirits. To make things worse, they negotiate with ghosts and the latter asks the former to outsmart them in a game.

Santhanam is not new to horror-comedy as he headlined Dhilluku Dhuddu and Dhilluku Dhuddu 2 in the past. However, this time around, the trailer of DD Returns appears underwhelming. The VFX shots are tacky and attempts at comedy aren't innovative. The one-liners that are supposed to be hilarious aren't effective.

The trailer also has a reference to Allu Arjun's Pushpa which is partly enjoyable. Produced by C Ramesh Kumar of RK Entertainment, the movie has music by ofRo and cinematography by Dipak Kumar Padhy. Hari Dinesh and NB Srikanth have handled action choreography and art direction respectively.

Zee5 has bagged the movie's digital rights and the film is likely to drop on the platform towards August end. Munishkanth, Fefsi Vijayan and Thanga Durai are a few others who will be seen essaying pivotal roles in DD Returns.

If everything goes well, Santhanam will have one more release this year. Kick, helmed by Prashant Raj, we hear, is also ready for release. The actor had two outings in 2022 as well, Gulu Gulu and Agent Kannayiram.
