The film’s name is Balmiki: The Saga of a Common Man.
Debasis Mondal and Priyanka Sarkar will be seen in a film together. Director Sankha Bhattacharya planned his debut with these actors. The film’s name is Balmiki: The Saga of a Common Man. The film will be based on the demolition of Babri Masjid in 1992 and its aftermath.
December 6, 1992, is considered to be a dark day in Indian history by many historians. The Babri Mosque was demolished which incited a countrywide riot. It came to Kolkata also. In another incident, a Muslim woman found a slain man, Sahid, on the road. In the present time, Journalist Bhaswati Majumdar wrote a book that detailed Sahid’s story. Is there any link between the two events? Is any hard truth to come in the present time by unraveling the past?
Debasis Mondal will play Sahid in the thriller. Priyanka Sarkar will play Bhaswati. Sankha has worked in television for a long time. He made a web series that is about to be released soon. He is hopeful about the film.
Sankha said, “Such a pair was not seen before. I want to portray Priyanka and Debasish in a new manner. I hope people will like it.”
Rajatava Dutta will play an important character in the film. Sumana Mukherjee, Indrajit Majumder, and Samrat Biswas will play other roles. Sankha said, “The film is about Sahid’s journey through the path entangled with crime and politics.”
Debjyoti Mishra is in charge of the music. The shooting will start next week.
