Rajkumar Hirani's 3 Idiots is still one of the most adored films in Bollywood. With its compelling storyline, brilliant actors, and a very important message, the film was a hit back then and is still watched with the same enthusiasm. Starring Aamir Khan, R Madhavan, and Sharman Joshi in the lead, the critically acclaimed and commercially successful film was released in the year 2019. Now, in a recent interview, R Madhavan shared an interesting anecdote about the film. The actor revealed that in a particular scene, the lead actors were indeed drunk and it was Aamir's idea.
Aamir Khan's to drink before filming drunk scene in 3 Idiots
In a conversation with BeerBiceps, Madhavan recalled how it was Aamir Khan's idea that in a scene where you are shown as drunk, you shouldn't act but actually get intoxicated. He revealed that they were supposed to shoot at 9 pm and the plan was to start drinking around 8 pm.
He further said, "But what happened is that the lighting conked off, so at 8:30 they said another two hours left. So, we wanted to maintain the same level of alcohol in our blood, except we didn’t realise that the cold Bangalore air would have a complete different impact on our intoxication. By the time the shot came, we thought we were completely normal, except we didn’t realise we were taking hours to deliver the lines."
Listening to Madhavan speaking about the film and its memories, which are so fresh for him, reveals that as much as the film is close to our hearts, it's to him as well. While we all still watch this film and enjoy every bit of it, we also can't wait for the makers to announce a sequel to the film soon.
