HanuMan is among the many films lining up for release during Sankranthi 2024 across multiple languages. The action adventure film with a mythological twist is directed by Prasanth Varma and stars Teja Sajja, Amritha Aiyer, Varalaxmi Sarathkumar and Vinay Rai in key roles. The third song from the film - Avakaya Anjaneya - composed by Anudeep Dev, was launched yesterday.
At the song launch event, Teja Sajja and Prasanth Varma spoke extensively about the film and the song. Teja called Avakaya Anjaneya a celebration of Telugu culture. “We always say the words ‘pani - paata’ in Telugu, perhaps it’s born out of the tradition of preparing ‘avakaya’ within family. Making the pickle may be a complex process, but it’s such a joy when we all family members come together to do it,” he said.
Prasanth Varma admitted that viewers were confused whether HanuMan is a mythological film or if it is set in the contemporary era. He said, with every promo teaser and song, they’re trying to introduce audiences to the film’s world. “It is a perfect festival film and can be watched by crowds of all ages from 6-60. It has devotion, action, fun and is born out of a very interesting idea,” the filmmaker shared.
From his journey from Awe to Zombie Reddy, the director said he understood how to tell stories in a more entertaining way. “HanuMan will be my most entertaining film till now and will be enjoyed by kids. Anudeep Dev took care of every aspect of Avakaya Anjaneya, I’ve zero knowledge on music. Teja did all the stunts by himself. The song is culmination of efforts by the choreographer, action director and director.”
The director asserted that the songs will drive the story forward in HanuMan and hinted that Avakaya Anjaneya will reveal a key twist in the film. “We’re working on the lyrics, dialogues for over six months in multiple languages, even if you watch it in Hindi, it won’t feel like a dubbed film. The film will look original in all languages.”
While Prasanth wants to make many superhero tales and has several plans in store for Prasanth Varma Cinematic Universe, he says it’ll be possible provided HanuMan becomes a hit. “There are six superhero films in store, but it’ll be right to discuss them after HanuMan’s release. Working with Teja is like being with a friend, we don’t talk like technicians. Amritha has done a fantastic job, she has a meaty part. Raj Deepak Shetty, Vinay Rai, Getup Srinu have a crucial role to play.”
