Eternals 2 in the works at Marvel Studios and an interesting character is making a return? Here's what we know

You can like it or hate it, but you cannot deny that Chloe Zhao, with her interesting perspective towards the superhero culture, gave the Marvel Cinematic Universe one of its first poetic movies with Eternals. Whether it sits with the taste of a certain set of audience or not is a personal thing. The buzz around a sequel that the studio is shaping has popped up more than once, but now it turns out the speculations this time are strong as they offer more updates. 

If you haven’t seen the film, Eternals, directed by Oscar Winning filmmaker Zhao, starred Angelina Jolie, Salma Hayek, Gemma Chan, Richard Madden, Kumail Nanjiani, Lauren Ridloff, Barry Keoghan, and an ensemble. The movie was about the celestial beings who lived on Earth and shaped history and civilizations. The movie opened to polarised reviews and isn’t one of the most celebrated MCU movies. 

But that does not take away the fact that these groups of characters do have the potential to have a standalone franchise of their own. It turns out the latest report now possibly confirms that the Marvel bosses have green-lit Eternals 2. If that wasn’t enough for you to be excited, the return of one of the most surprising characters and actors is even confirmed.

As per scooper Daniel Richtman, Eternals 2 is now being shaped at the Marvel studios, and the biggest surprise is that Richard Madden is all set to return as Ikaris. Now, if you remember, Ikaris technically died at the end of Eternals when he realized he couldn’t kill his friends, and he flew into the sun. However, we never saw him die on screen, but the idea was clear.

Now, with the reports of him returning for Eternals 2, we have a lot of questions. What is also worth mentioning is that Eternals are robot-like beings that Celestials make to carry out their job. In this case, we also saw that Arishem has a lot of versions of Ikaris stored with him. Will this be the same one we saw in the first part, or a version of him? Only time will tell.
