At the start of February, there were reports of roughly 30-35 Kannada films releasing in theatres in just one month. There were 5 in on February 2, 6 on February 9, 10 on February 16 and another 5-6 this week. If you take the Kannada dubbed films also into consideration, chances are that the final figure could be close to 30 after all.

This week, ticket aggregator sites list 6 new Kannada films, but how many of them will actually get a decent number of screens will be known only late on Thursday night. Here’s a look at some of the films headed your way.

Mr Natwarlal

Thanush Shivanna is in the lead in this tale about the king of cons. Hunted by the police in crimes spanning several sections of the Indian Penal Code, the criminal not only remains an enigma but also elusive, earning him the title Mr Natwarlal. Can the cops nail him down? The film also stars Sonal Monteiro, Rajesh Nataranga, Sujay Shastry, Yash Shetty, among others.

For Regn

Debutant director Naveen Dwarakanath presents a tale of relationships and the importance of how it registers in a couple’s mind. Pruthvi Ambaar is paired with Milana Nagaraj, as a newly-married couple who then hit certain roadblocks. Can they overcome it or will it be too much for them?

Pruthvi Ambaar gets yet another release this week in the form of a hard-hitting thriller called Matsyagandha that revolves around the lives of fisherfolk in the Uttara Kannada region. Pruthvi plays a cop in this gripping tale. Also on the cast are Prashant Siddhi, who doubles up as music director too, Sourav Lokesh, Sharath Lohithashwa, Nagaraj Byndoor, among others.

Dhairyam Sarvatra Sadhanam

A film revolving around the bond between a father and son, Dhairyam Sarvatra Sadhanam has Raja Balawadi and newcomer Vivan KK in the lead. Directed by AR Sai Ram, the film also stars Anusha Rai and Yash Shetty.

Harish Raj is in the lead in this tale about a grieving couple, who move to a village in the hope of a fresh start, but are then faced with paranormal events in their house. The film, written and directed by Harish, also stars Ahira Shetty, Amulya Bharadwaj and BM Venkatesh.
