All of us have to collectively agree to the fact that Furiosa is one of the best female characters men and writers in the world of cinema have collectively written. She is a woman who was snatched the right to stay close to her roots; her life hardened her like the hardest rock and now she leads an army of men who abide by her orders. There’s a woman in her who seeks home, houses empathy, but is also brave enough to take down the citadel that had probably bought her after she was abducted.

All hail George Miller, who now takes ahead, or, let’s technically say, behind the story of one of the most iconic characters in shaped with the spin-off titled Furiosa, starring the amazing Anya Taylor-Joy and ‘oh, he can be a brutal villain too?’ Chris Hemsworth. Today the makers released the first trailer for the movie and it promises a mad ride through the post-apocalyptic world yet again. And the wait for May 2024 is only getting more difficult.

The film opens with a visual of Anya Taylor-Joy as Furiosa, taking over from Charlize Theron, who is wounded. She is walking through barren land while her bike has fallen right behind her. She is suddenly reminded of the promise to return home and here begins a movie where all the questions about Furiosa are about to be answered. Because if you look at it closely, she still has long hair, both her arms, and some innocence intact. The last frame of the trailer hints at her shaving her head. And the journey in between is what shaped her for Fury Road.

The highlight of the trailer is Furiosa wanting to save a kid. In the first scene, we see the kid being a prize for a race and in the next, Furiosa is on a run with him. Does this remind you of how she saved the women Joe was abducting to keep them as wives? Maybe saviour is a word that might just become synonymous with Furiosa. The trailer promises a very wild ride and one that shouldn’t be missed.

While the trailer only reveals a bit about Chris Hemsworth’s Dementus, whatever we see of him tells us he is indeed brutal and one that will be tough competition. George Miller is a master filmmaker and the visuals in the trailer itself are enough to tell you that. We are already pumped, are you? Stay tuned to OTTplay for more.
