Actor Siddharth Mahesh’s second film, Garuda, which he’d written and made long before the pandemic, finally got its date with audiences in May last year. The film, a revenge drama with Siddharth in the lead and Srinagara Kitty in a pivotal and memorable role, along with others like Aindrita Ray, Rajesh Nataranga, Ashika Ranganth, Kamna Jethmalani, Adhi Lokesh, had released to decent reviews, but struggled at the box office.

The film follows the story of Ram, a restaurateur in Goa, who is also a bit of a vigilante, hell-bent on taking down the operations of the local thug, Kalinga. Ram’s beef with Kalinga isn’t new, though. The latter was responsible for a major tragedy in the former’s life, following which he moves to Goa. Although the film was nearly five years old by the time it hit theatres, the narrative did not feel jaded since some of the real-life inspired events that make it to the story are told in flashback. Kitty’s role in the film was widely lauded, especially as it also became a comeback of sorts for him. The actor was last seen onscreen in 2017’s Siliconn City. Subsequently, after Garuda, he also had Avatara Purusha 1, with the sequel offering him a bigger role, as well as Gowli, which is expected to release soon.

Now, a good eight months after its theatrical release, Garuda has finally managed to find a digital partner. The film has been picked up by Amazon Prime Video and is now available to stream.

Siddharth, meanwhile, is currently working on the script of his next, which he is hoping to announce shortly. The film, he says, will be biographical in nature, but presented as a commercial film. The actor is in the process of securing all relevant permissions from the kith and kin of his subject, while also doing relevant research to present a truthful account of events.
