Gauahar Khan defends Ranbir Kapoor against Alia 'phailaod' comment, says she's his wife

Gauahar Khan clarified that she stands by her tweet defending Ranbir Kapoor, who was criticised "phailaod" remark about his wife, actress Alia Bhatt. In an interview with Hindustan Times, the actress discussed her post and said that there is no longer any room for carelessness in life and everything is being analysed.

She also clarified that her post had nothing to do with anything Ranbir Kapoor said. Gauahar said, “I’m generally talking about life and how people’s tolerance level has hit rock bottom. Anything that is said is sensitive to anyone and everyone. Where is the [sense of] humour? Where are the people taking things in jest? If he was saying that to a stranger, of course, people can take offence to that. But that’s his wife, for God’s sake! I feel people should take humour for the way it is [meant]. Unless it is obnoxious or is in the racist zone or something extreme... But it’s Ranbir’s wife. Chedhkhaani nahin hoti [between spouses]? Hum kitna dekhte the films mein... I have seen my parents [teasing each other]. People need to relax.”

Gauahar's tweet on Friday said, "Aaj kal log kuch zyaada hi sensitive ho gaye hain. Ab apni biwi se kuch halka phulka Mazaak karne pe bhi paabandi hai, kya pata kaun kahaan pe offend ho jaaye. Take a chill pill yaar, take light, it will resolve a lot of the issues in the world." (People are getting much more sensitive these days. Even men can't make fun of their wives.)

Gauahar also starred alongside Ranbir in the 2009 movie Rocket Singh: Salesman of the Year. Since then the actress has appeared in several movies and television programmes, such as Game, Begum Jaan, Badrinath Ki Dulhania, and Ishaqzaade. She was also the winner of Bigg Boss 7. The actress will appear in the forthcoming webseries Shiksha Mandal. Syed Ahmad Afzal has helmed the MX Player show, which has Gulshan Devaiah and Pavan Malhotra in the lead.
