Griselda has finally arrived on Netflix to straighten out the crooks in her way. The limited series dropped all six of its episodes at once, to offer respite to the binging hearts of viewers.
Griselda was released on January 25, 2024, and it has earned a great response from viewers and reviewers on Twitter. Sofia Vergara, popularly known for her long-time stint on Modern Family as Gloria Delgado-Pritchett, moves away from comedy to a gritty crime drama and becomes its boss. Based on the life of Miami cocaine queen Griselda Blanco, the eponymous series is created by Narcos makers Eric Newman and André Baiz.
Most Twitteratis were taken aback by how engrossing and captivating the show was, especially the alluring quality that Griselda possessed, despite doing illegal acts.
While several viewers exclaimed their crazy love for the show and Sofia Vergara’s iconic portrayal, others called for her Oscar. The actress had been exceptional in her performance and Twitter users did not shy away from expressing their love.
Another viewer rightly noted the formidable fear Griselda generated among men, from beating people publicly with a bat in broad daylight to killing anyone who dares to oppose her.
Several Twitter users quoted Pablo Escobar, that the only man he was afraid of, was a woman named Griselda Blanco. And Sofia Vergara serves the role with great relish.
Griselda has even defeated sleep for some, rendering them sleep-deprived but satisfied as they make their way to work or come back from it.
Griselda has mostly received a positive reception from viewers. Though a thrilling and taut plot would have been enough to ensure a mixed bag of reviews, Sofia Vergara’s Griselda makes it even more memorable and unputdownable.
Despite being a known performer for a long time, Sofia Vergara viciously tackles this role, determined to prove her mettle as a mother of three (and a half, if her first, criminal husband is counted) who runs her own drugs empire and must establish a foothold to sustain.
