Is THIS when Dhanush’s Raayan will release? Here’s the latest from the gangster film

Big Tamil projects have been pushing release dates owing to the general elections. But some films have chosen to release their films in April. The latest grapevine is that Dhanush’s directorial, Raayan, might be released in theatres in June, more specifically on June 7. Although an official confirmation is awaited, the new speculation has been trending on social media, with fans excited about the release of the film. 

So far, the Raayan team has only released character posters; a teaser is eagerly awaited. Little wonder then that the news about the release date is quite exciting.

Raayan’s leaked synopsis has a connection with a Vijay film!

Earlier, there were reports that Raayan revolves around Dhanush’s character of the same name, who is a cook at a restaurant in North Madras. The story of the upcoming gangster drama takes a turn when, at one point, the mystery of his past is revealed, which shocks everyone around him. Apparently, the ordinary cook is a former gangster who has a secret past. 

Although the team has been tight-lipped about the details of the movie, fans claim that the film's leaked storyline is similar to that of Vijay's Leo. For the uninitiated, Leo is about a coffee owner and his dark past as a gangster. However, we may have to wait a little longer to find out what Raayan has in store for fans.

Raayan, a star-studded gangster drama

Dhanush’s ambitious gangster drama also stars Prakash Raj, SJ Suryah, Selvaraghavan, Dushara Vijayan, Kalidas Jayaram, Aparna Balamurali, Anikha Surendran and Sundeep Kishan in key roles. The music for the film has been composed by AR Rahman and there is also a dance number choreographed by Prabhudheva.
