One of the much-anticipated Tamil films that is in the making is undoubtedly Thug Life. The film, starring the multi-faceted Kamal Haasan in the lead role, is directed by Mani Ratnam. Thug Life will mark the reunion of the duo after their iconic film Nayakan, which was released in 1987.

While we had earlier reported that the film has gone on floors, a latest update about the film has dropped that the first schedule has been completed by the makers. A release date for Thug Life is yet to be revealed.

Shooting update of Thug Life:

As per the latest reports doing the rounds on social media, the Kamal Haasan-starrer has wrapped up shooting for the first schedule in Chennai. Further, the makers are expected to go to Serbia and Russia to commence the second schedule of the film. Kamal Haasan is expected to sport a bearded look for his character, increasing the level of expectations for his character.

Thug Life features a star ensemble and boasts actors from different South Indian film industries. Besides Kamal Haasan, Thug Life stars Jayam Ravi, Dulquer Salmaan, Trisha, Joju George, Gautham Karthik, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Abhirami, and Nasser, among others. With a host of new faces, the makers have remained tight-lipped about the character details. It is also worth mentioning that many cast members, including Dulquer, Trisha, and Aishwarya, have worked with Mani Ratnam before.

Updates about Thug Life so far:

The makers released a video introducing the previously announced cast and crew members and saying that the shooting has begun. The film, very much like Nayakan, is expected to be gangster drama and heavy on action. Thug Life has music scored by AR Rahman, who has worked with both veterans on a number of projects. The upcoming project is backed by Kamal’s home banner, Raaj Kamal Films International and Mani Ratnam’s Madras Talkies.

The technical crew consists of cinematographer Ravi K Chandran, Sreekar Prasad handling the edits, and the AnbAriv duo serving as stunt coordinators. Eka Lakhani, who worked in Ponniyin Selvan duology, will design the costumes. A release date for the film has yet to be announced by the makers.
