Rajinikanth and Nelson Dilipkumar are set to reunite for the much-awaited sequel of Jailer. The scripting of the project is reportedly progressing.
Rajinikanth bounced back after a prolonged low phase with the massive success of Jailer. The movie, which marked the legendary superstar’s first onscreen collaboration with talented filmmaker Nelson Dilipkumar, emerged as one of the biggest blockbusters of 2023. Recently, it was confirmed that the celebrated movie is set to get a sequel soon. As per the latest updates, director Nelson has already kickstarted the scripting of Jailer 2.
If the latest reports are to be believed, lady superstar Nayanthara is in talks to play the female lead in the highly anticipated Jailer sequel. As you might have guessed, the actress, who was last seen in the culinary drama Annapoorani, is not playing the romantic interest of Rajinikanth’s character in Jailer 2.
Instead, the celebrated actress is expected to appear in a pivotal role in the movie. However, Nayanthara has not signed the dotted line, yet. If the actress joins the star cast of the upcoming Nelson directorial, the project will mark her sixth onscreen collaboration with the superstar.
According to the grapevine, director Nelson Dilipkumar is planning to establish his own crime cinema universe with the Jailer 2. If the rumours are to be believed, Nayanthara is not just approached to play the female lead but is in talks to reprise her much-loved character from the filmmaker’s directorial debut, Kolamavu Kokila.
The renowned director is reportedly planning an exciting crossover between the worlds of Jailer and the 2018-released black comedy film, with the upcoming sequel of the blockbuster movie. However, none of these reports are officially confirmed yet. The cine-goers are totally excited to see what Nelson Dilipkumar, is cooking with the upcoming Jailer sequel.
However, if this crossover is indeed happening, it will be exciting to see how the talented filmmaker blends both worlds. But, most importantly, we will have to wait and see how the characters of both worlds come together as some of the cast members of Kolamavu Kokila, including Yogi Babu and Redin Kingsley, played different characters in the Rajinikanth-starter.
