Kiara Advani is a busy bee at the moment. After her horror comedy, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, put up a formidable performance at the box office, Advani’s recent on screen outing came in the form of JugJugg Jeeyo. The actress recently opened up about how she wanted to do more comedy films.
In conversation with Pinkvilla, Advani talked about how comedy was one of the most difficult genres to do and revealed that the 2019 film Good Newwz had been one of the first comedic roles she had done. Calling it a film she had done the most comedy in, the actress said that she was ‘lucky’ to have had a co-star like Diljit Dosanjh. She also added that her co-stars, including Akshay Kumar and Kareena Kapoor Khan, had also ‘helped’ her a lot. “You know there was a lot of timing in comedy and that’s what I have learnt from them and I want to do more”, she said.
The actress spoke about how there weren’t a lot of films where the female protagonists got a chance to do comedy. She spoke of how there had not been an ‘out-and-out’ comedic role for a female protagonist in the recent past. Advani added that she hoped writers would write better comedy parts for female stars in future. Good Newwz can be streamed on Amazon Prime Video.
Advani was last seen in JugJugg Jeeyo, which also starred Neetu Kapoor, Anil Kapoor and Varun Dhawan in pivotal roles. The film reunited Advani with Good Newwz director Raj Mehta. JugJugg Jeeyo was released in theatres on June 24 and will be available to stream on Amazon Prime Video after its theatrical run.
