Social media has been abuzz with the rumours about Kajal Aggarwal no longer being part of Kamal Haasan's upcoming film, Indian 2, for the last few days. But contrary to the rumours, the actress recently confirmed that she was very much part of the film, directed by Shankar and featuring Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan in the lead. In a social media live interaction session with actress Neha Dhupia, Kajal revealed that she was all set to resume work post her pregnancy and that she would begin shooting for Indian 2 from September 13. With the confirmation, all rumours about her not being part of the project, can be laid to rest.

Speculations were rife that the team was considering Deepika Padukone or Katrina Kaif for the project after the success of Kamal Haasan's last outing, Vikram. Earlier there was a rumour that Kajal was replaced by Tamanaah, and later, Trisha. The rumours about her getting dropped from the project began after the actress became pregnant. Kajal gave birth to her first child, son, Neil Kitchlu, in April 2022 and went on a maternity break.

Earlier, the actress had revealed that she was dying to work with director Shankar and that her role was a fabulous one. She had even asked why anyone would opt out of a film like Indian 2? The actress is said to have learnt Kalaripayattu as she has to perform stunts.

In the meantime, Kamal Haasan has flown down to the US for the prep work of the film. The shoot for the vigilante thriller had come to a halt after a tragic incident on the sets, followed by the pandemic. Indian 2 star cast comprises Siddharth, Kajal Aggarwal, Rakul Preet Singh, Priya Bhavani Shankar, Bobby Simha, Samuthirakani and Nedumudi Venu. The film is a sequel to Indian (1996) a vigilante thriller, which was also directed by Shankar.
