Kamal Haasan expresses condolences on RS Shivaji's demise, says he lost a family member

Veteran actor RS Shivaji passed away this morning at his residence in Chennai. Film buffs have been taking to Twitter to express shock and recollect some of the impactful characters he played in his career that spans four decades. Interestingly, most of the movies in which he left an everlasting impression starred Kamal Haasan in the lead.

Nelson Dilipkumar was the first notable celebrity from Kollywood to express condolences on his death. The actor played an interesting character in the director's debut movie Kolamavu Kokila.

Kamal Haasan mourns his demise

The Ulaganayagan took to Twitter to say that he is deeply affected by the untimely demise of the actor who has excelled in both character roles and comedy. The Vikram star said that he had lost a family member and recollected his talent in making every character stand out with his immense acting skill.    

Guna, Michael Madana Kamarajan, Sathya, Apoorva Sagodharargal and Anbe Sivam were a few movies in which the two appeared together. Unnaipol Oruvan, which was released in 2009, was the last project that brought them together. Shivaji's brother Santhana Bharathi is also one of the favourite co-actors of Kamal.

Shivaji's gratitude towards Kamal

A video that has Shivaji thanking Kamal's gesture for helping him during needy times has been going viral on social media. He said that there were times when he would think twice about reaching out to Kamal for help. However, he opened up about his ill health to the Ulaganayagan a while ago, after which the latter agreed to take care of his medical expenses.

Shivaji further added that he would get calls from Raaj Kamal Films International towards the end of every month to check if he got the medicines in his prescription.
