Kangana Ranaut takes jibe at Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s wish to work with her, says ‘No otherwise your alpha male...’

Despite facing substantial criticism for its portrayal of women, Animal undeniably became a blockbuster in 2023, grossing over Rs 900 crores globally. The crime-thriller sustained its buzz even two months after release, prompting discussions on its impact. The filmmaker behind Animal – Sandeep Reddy Vanga, recently disclosed future plans, expressing a desire to collaborate with national award-winning actress Kangana Ranaut due to his admiration for her acting skills. However, Kangana declined the filmmaker's request and even took a dig at the success of Animal. Notably, Kangana has consistently been vocal about women's rights in the Indian film industry.

Kangana Ranaut declines to work with Sandeep Reddy Vanga

In an interview with famous journalist Siddharth Kannan, Sandeep Reddy Vanga expressed interest in collaborating with Kangana Ranaut stating, "If I feel she will fit into it, I will go and narrate the story. I genuinely liked her performance in Queen and so many other films."

Responding to this comment with a message in Hindi, Kangana outlined why she does not wish to work with the filmmaker, especially after the success of Animal which glorified women in a negative light.

Kangana said, “Critique and condemnation are not the same. There should be reviews and discussions on all forms of art; this is a common understanding. Just as Sandeep ji, with a shady smile, showed ‘respect’ for my work... it can be said that he doesn't just make masculine films; his attitude is also masculine. Thank you, sir, but please never offer me a role, or else your alpha male heroes will turn into feminists, and then your films will suffer too. Make blockbusters. The film industry needs you."

As you might know, Animal did not receive positive reviews after release, and many slammed the film for being misogynistic and glorifying toxic masculinity.

Meanwhile, on the professional front, Kangana is looking forward to her upcoming film, Emergency – which is based on the life of former Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.
