Producer-turned-actor Udhayanidhi hit the headlines for multiple reasons in recent times. He announced his decision to quit acting officially after he was sworn in as the Tamil Nadu State Minister for Youth Welfare and Sports. Kannai Nambathey, which starred him in the lead, hit the screens on March 17.
The film commenced a few years ago and makers couldn't complete it owing to several reasons. The movie's cast including Prasanna and Srikanth spoke about their experiences of having associated with the project for a few years in a media interaction a few weeks ago.
Aathmika plays the female lead in the film which has Bhumika Chawla, Vasundhara Kashyap and Sathish among others essaying pivotal characters. VN Ranjithkumar has produced the movie under the banner of LIPI Cine Crafts. Jalandhar Vasan and Siddhu Kumar have handled cinematography and music direction respectively while San Lokesh has edited the movie.
It revolves around a mysterious man who justifies his crime. According to him, people commit crimes for two reasons; to hide wrongdoing or to ensure a flawless future. However, he has a completely different motive behind committing crimes. Who is he and why is he indulging in back-to-back crimes?
Kannai Nambathey is dropping on Netflix on April 14. The film marks Udhayanidhi's first outing this year. The movie opened to mixed reports from critics and the audience. There were good expectations on the project as filmmaker Maran's previous flick Iravukku Aayiram Kangal had enjoyable twists and turns.

Udhayanidhi's last project is said to be Maamannan which will hit the screens later this year. The Mari Selvaraj directorial brings AR Rahman, Vadivelu, Fahadh Faasil and Keerthy Suresh together.
