Kurangu Pedal on OTT: Starring Santhosh Velmurugan and VR Ragavan, the film explores the trials of bunch of schoolboys who are trying to learn to ride a bicycle

Kurangu Pedal, the recently released Tamil film backed by actor Sivakarthikeyan's banner, Sivakarthikeyan Productions, is set to stream on Aha Tamil soon, the platform announced recently. The film's premiere date is expected to be revealed shortly.
Kurangu Pedal has been celebrated in the festival circuit after it became one of the three Tamil films to be screened at the Indian Panorama section of the 53rd International Film Festival of India.

The film is directed by Kamalakannan and was released in theatres on May 3, along with Sundar C’s Aranmanai 4. It is a period drama and revolves around a bunch of schoolboys who aspire to learn how to ride a bicycle all on their own during their summer vacations. Kurangu Pedal features Santhosh Velmurugan, VR Ragavan, M Gnanasekar, Rathish, Sai Ganesh, Kaali Venkat, Prasanna Balachander, Jenson Diwakar and others.
Bankrolled by Sivakarthikeyan, along with Savitha Shanmugam and SuMee Baskaran, Kurangu Pedal has music scored by Ghibran Vaibodha, editing by Shivanandeeswaran and cinematography by SuMee.

Kurangu Pedal opened to mixed to positive reviews upon its theatrical release. OTTplay review of the film reads, “The film had all the potential out there and also had them served almost on a platter, but failed to capitalise into making it something deeper.”
It is to be noted that Kurangu Pedal is one of the few recent Tamil films with target audience as children. In a previous conversation with us, the director said, “Films about children, when shown to them, might not sit well with them. Sometimes they might even think that we don’t understand them. It is because their world is different from ours, especially their conflicts. As small as they seem to be, they are big for them. Kurangu Pedal is a film that talks about children's issues at their level. It is for children and about children. At one point, it talks about the child and, at the same time, gives a parent’s perspective too.”
