Based on the Sherlock Holmes detective stories of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, Sherlock is a British mystery crime drama television series. While Benedict Cumberbatch plays Sherlock Holmes, Martin Freeman is Doctor John Watson. The writing, acting, and direction have ensured a loyal fanbase for this series. It has received multiple nominations, including a Golden Globe, a BAFTA, and an Emmy.

True Detective

Nic Pizzolatto is the creator of this American anthology crime drama series. The show's seasons are designed to be self-contained narratives that follow different sets of characters and settings, with fresh cast ensembles. The first season aired in 2014. It is set in Louisiana and centres on the 17-year pursuit of a serial killer with occult connections by two detectives from the Louisiana State Police. True Detective: Night Country, the show's fourth and most recent season, debuted in 2024 and stars Jodie Foster and Kali Reis.

Mindhunter

Based on the 1995 true crime book Mindhunter: Inside the FBI's Elite Serial Crime Unit by John E. Douglas and Mark Olshaker, Mindhunter is an American psychological crime thriller series that premiered in 2017. The show, which stars Jonathan Groff, Holt McCallany, and Anna Torv, chronicles the establishment of the FBI's Behavioral Science Unit in the late 1970s and the begining of criminal profiling.

Psych

This is a detective comedy-drama series that stars James Roday as Shawn Spencer. Shawn is a young crime consultant for the Santa Barbara Police Department who has persuaded people that he has psychic abilities that help him solve cases. He actually manages to do so because of his keen observational skills and remarkable eidetic memory. Corbin Bernsen plays Shawn's father Henry, a former Santa Barbara Police Department detective, who taught him everything he knows. Dulé Hill plays his friend and reluctant partner, Burton Gus Guster. Psuch won the People's Choice Award for Best Cable TV Comedy in 2014.

Monk

American comedy-drama detective series Monk aired for eight seasons, between 2002 and 2009. The show centers on Adrian Monk (Tony Shalhoub), a private investigator who suffers from multiple phobias and obsessive-compulsive disorder. He solves crimes along with his assistants, Natalie Teeger (Traylor Howard) and Sharona Fleming (Bitty Schram). Monk looks into his wife's unsolved murder while working with the San Francisco Police Department to solve unusual cases. The personal lives and struggles of the main characters are also explored in the show. Monk won eight Emmys and a Golden Globe award.

Law & Order: Special Victims Unit

This is the first Law & Order spin-off and starred Christopher Meloni as Detective Elliot Stabler and Mariska Hargitay as Detective (later promoted to Captain) Olivia Benson, the commanding officer of the Special Victims Unit. Law & Order: Special Victims Unit chronicles the detectives' investigations and prosecutions of crimes based on sexual assault.

The Night Agent

This American action thriller television series is based on Matthew Quirk's novel of the same name. It debuted on Netflix in March 2023 and stars Gabriel Basso in the lead role. The story is about an FBI Agent Peter Sutherland (Basso) who finds himself in an elaborate plot involving a mole at the highest echelons of the US government. He launches a search for the traitor, all the while shielding Rose Larkin, the former CEO of a tech company, from the assassins of her aunt and uncle.
