Filmmaker Lokesh Kanagaraj on Wednesday issued a clarification in the wake of the news that his Facebook page fell victim to a security breach. He issued a statement on his Twitter page, informing his fans about an unauthorised Facebook page under his name.

"Hey all, I’m only available on Twitter and Instagram, I do not have or use any other social media accounts. Please feel free to ignore and unfollow any other hoax accounts!" tweeted Lokesh.

It seems Lokesh was not aware of the fraudulent Facebook page, which had previously been mistaken for his official account and accumulated over four lakh followers. On Wednesday, the compromised page was renamed 'Viral Yoga,' sharing explicit content, causing confusion among the director's followers.

On the career front, Lokesh has solidified his status as one of India's leading filmmakers with the humongous success of his latest movie Leo. Starring Thalapthy Vijay in the lead role, the film is loosely based on the graphic novel book, A History of Violence.

Leo caught the imagination of the audience since it went on the floors in January this year. And the film was released in October amid a lot of fan frenzy. However, the film received mixed reactions from the critics, but that didn't stop it from becoming the highest-grossing Tamil film of 2023.

Leo managed to gross over Rs 612 crore from its worldwide ticket sales, setting a new box office benchmark in the Tamil film industry. In Tamil Nadu alone, Leo sold more than Rs 200 crore worth of tickets, and it also exceeded its performances in the international territories. Surprisingly, Leo was also well received in the Hindi belt, where it raked in more than Rs 40 crore just from the single-screen theatres.

Leo was also a huge hit in the Telugu states, of Karnataka and Kerala.

Lokesh has created a cinematic universe, which is popularly known as Lokesh Cinematic Universe aka LCU. The franchise started with Kaithi in 2019 and the world was further extended with Kamal Haasan-starrer Vikram. Leo became the latest addition to the LCU and is now streaming on Netflix.

In the meantime, Lokesh is busy working on the script of his next movie temporarily titled Thalaivar 171 which stars Superstar Rajinikanth in the lead.
