Navdeep, who stunned many with his terrific portrayal of a rural journalist in aha’s web series Newsense, turned a host recently with the cricket-centric OTT show DugOut. He had also produced a small budget film titled Sagileti Katha earlier this year. He has another surprise in store for audiences - Love Mouli, a film promises to introduce ‘Navdeep 2.0’ to audiences.
A character teaser of Love Mouli was unveiled yesterday. Pankhuri Gidwani plays the female lead in the film directed by Avaneendra. Cspace, Nyra Creations and Srikara Studios are jointly producing the film which has music by 96, Jaanu fame Govind Vasantha and Crishna (for the background score). In a rugged avatar, sporting a beard, Navdeep has put his heart and sweat into the project as an actor, producer.
The makers label Love Mouli as a ‘new-age youthful drama’ where Navdeep is cast as a free-spirited adventure enthusiast. From his semi-nude posture to the references to women’s innerwear, Navdeep drinks alcohol, rides a bike, treks and embraces nature under a waterfall. You get a glimpse of his love life later as well. The film, going by the teaser, promises to break conventions.
The cinematography is one of the high points of the teaser and the innovative editing leaves a lasting impression. Nearly completing two decades in the industry, Navdeep is gearing up to rediscover himself as a performer with Love Mouli and it’s high-time he got his due. From hero to supporting actor to negative roles besides showcasing a flair for comedy, Navdeep has played a wide variety of characters in his career.
Anantha Sriram is the sole lyricist for the film while Kiran Mamidi is the art director. Ajay Sivasanker choreographs the dance sequences with Aanshi Gupta supervising costume design. Anandh Rallabhandi, Pavan Goparaju, Gnanam Tara Mani are the executive producers. The first single from the film - The Anthem of Love Mouli - has garnered over 3 million views already.
