Vikram's much-anticipated action thriller Cobra, which was released in theatres yesterday, opened to mixed response from critics and the audience. The film directed by Ajay Gnanamuthu was released with a run time of 3 hours 3 minutes and 3 seconds.

Though many movie buffs and fans of Vikram had expressed curiousity over the movie's content doing justice to its long duration,   some of them had pinned hopes on the director's vision. However, one of the major criticisms the project is facing currently from various quarters is with regard to its run time.

The makers have now resorted to damage control mode as they are ready to chop off 20 minutes from Cobra. The social media handle of Seven Screen Studio, which has produced the movie, has announced that the updated version of the film will be made available to the audience from today evening in theatres across south.

Their tweet read, "We Heard You. #Cobra is now Trimmed by 20 Mins as suggested by film-goers, fans, media friends, distributors & exhibitors. Will be updated from this evening on all the screens. Do watch & support the film (sic)."

Fans, who watched the movie on the first day, are now curious to know which are the scenes that have been chopped. We hear that the producer of Cobra was initially skeptical about the long duration of the film, but the director convinced him as he was confident about the audience loving it.

AR Rahman's background score and Vikram's performance are two prime aspects which have been garnering positive response from viewers. The film has taken a good opening across Tamil Nadu. The trade is eager to know how much the film could collect in the coming days.
