The pre-release event of Lingusamy’s bilingual movie The Warriorr which was held at Chennai on Wednesday was a unique event as many talented Kollywood filmmakers came together out of their love for the director. All of them spoke briefly about their association with Lingusamy and expressed eagerness in watching the movie starring Ram and Krithi in lead roles.
Mani Ratnam, who was one among the guests at the event, was all praise for Lingusamy and described him as the nerve-centre of the Tamil film industry. The maverick filmmaker said that he was one person who ensured unity of directors during the pandemic and encouraged everyone to work effectively.
Talking about The Warriorr, he said pointing fingers at the group of directors at the dais, "I didn't know there were so many warriors here. Had I known earlier, I wouldn't have gone to Hyderabad to shoot Ponniyin Selvan there. I would have shot all the war scenes here."
Mani recollected that the shooting of both Ponniyin Selvan and The Warriorr used to take place in nearby areas in Hyderabad, and that he is glad to see the latter getting ready for release on July 14.
"Lingusamy and his team have completed the movie and are ready with its promotion and release date, but we are still busy with some of the works of Ponniyin Selvan. It looks like we are all following your path. It was you who instilled motivation among all the filmmakers here during the pandemic," he added.
The Warriorr marks the debut of both Ram Pothineni and Krithi Shetty in Tamil. The latter has been roped in to play the female lead in Bala's Suriya 41 as well. On the other hand, the teaser of the much-awaited Ponniyin Selvan will be released tomorrow.
