The Film Exhibitors United Organisation of Kerala (FEUOK) had recently announced that no Malayalam films would hit theatres after February 22, 2024. The organisation made this decision, alleging that the producers continue to violate the permitted OTT window rules issued by them in the past. FEUOK alleged that several Malayalam film producers violated the regulation that suggests that movies cannot be released on OTT platforms before 42 days of release.

According to the organisation, most producers are still releasing films on OTT 30 days after the theatrical release. Along with these allegations, FEUOK has also asked to reduce the producers’ theatre share revenue to 55 percent. However, the Kerala Film Producers’ Association has now confirmed that the films, which were slated to release on February 22, 2024, will hit theatres as planned. The list includes multi-starrer Manjummel Boys and Nadirshah’s Once Upon A Time In Kochi.

Kerala Film Producers’ Association releases official statement

The recent official statement, which was jointly released by the Kerala Film Producers’ Association and the Film Distributors’ Association, confirmed that there are no changes in the release plans of Malayalam films, which have been slated to hit theatres next week. According to the associations, Manjummel Boys, which is slated for release on February 22, Thursday, will be released as planned in the theatres that have already signed the contract with the makers.
