The much-awaited trailer for Vijay Sethupathi and Katrina Kaif’s Merry Christmas is finally out. The trailer starts with a collage of some random shots, including a church, the start of a mixer grinder, a ticket popping out of a weight machine and other things like that.

This is immediately followed by a voiceover that highlights the importance of that particular moment in a person’s life when he or she comes to know that the moment has finally arrived. Thereafter comes the introduction of Katrina Kaif and Vijay Sethupathi, where the former asks the latter whether he is single or if he has put his wedding ring inside his pocket after seeing her. To which Vijay replies that it's a long story.

The viewers are then taken to a midnight visual where Katrina Kaif and Vijay Sethupathi cling their glasses together and wish each other a merry Christmas. Immediately after that, when Vijay tells him that those three hours will be an unforgettable dream, Katrina Kaif tells him to choose one finger. This is followed by a weight machine ticket that has a photograph of the late Rajesh Khanna with their 'fortune', which states, ‘The Night is Darkest before the Dawn’.

This is again followed by a series of arresting visuals, including a falling teddy bear, a frightened child, a gun and others. Katrina Kaif then speaks about the sacrifice a person makes in love, only to be followed by the introduction of Sanjay Kapoor’s character, who is a self-confessed ‘lone wolf’. Vijay, on his part, then tells Katrina Kaif to choose one finger between the two and when she does, the former says that it was a good choice and that 'sometimes violence is better than sacrifice’.

The trailer ends with Katrina Kaif watching a film in a theatre with Vijay in the front row seat and a voiceover that states, ‘Then, a demon takes away with him the mother and daughter’. On the other hand, the theatre screen displays the ‘public message’ that reads, ‘Check your belongings before leaving cinema’, which is kind of indicative that Katrina Kaif has been taken away by the ‘demon’.

All in all, the trailer is definitely arresting and intriguing. Both Vijay Sethupathi and Katrina Kaif have yet again proved why they are two of the most bankable actors of today. Besides the two, the film also stars Sanjay Kapoor, Vinay Pathak, Pratima Kannan, Tinnu Anand, Radhika Apte and Ashwini Kalsekar. The film has been directed by Sriram Raghavan and produced by Ramesh Taurani, Sanjay Routray, Jaya Taurani and Kewal Garg. The film is all set to be released on January 24, 2024.
