Mrinal Sen’s 1976 film Mrigayaa marked the beginning of Mithun Chakraborty’s journey in cinema. The film which also features Mamata Shankar bagged two National Awards, including the Best Actor. Evidently, Mithun started his career with a massive achievement and since then he has been working seamlessly all over the country. The actor and Mamata Shakkar reappeared four decades later in Projapati, which was released last year. Dev plays Mithun’s son in the film and wins the viewers' hearts. The fans were also mesmerized seeing the two avatars pairing up again.
Projapati was a blockbuster at the box office. Now, Mithun is pairing up with Debashree Roy after years. According to reports, they will be seen in the film Shastri, which will be directed by Pathikrit Basu. The film is produced by the actor Soham Chakraborty. A part of the industry thinks that an old pair if presented again on the screen with a good script, can draw the audience to the theatres.
Debashree recently set foot on the web. She is busy shooting for her first web series Chemistry Mashi. Mithun, on the other hand, finished the shooting of Suman Ghosh’s Kabuliwala. It is set to be released this Christmas.

Mithun and Deboshree worked together in several films. The film Nadi Theke Sagare, directed by Arabinda Mukhopadhyay, was released in 1976. Mithun and Deboshree worked in the film and it was her first appearance as the heroine.
The superhit film Troyee was released in 1982. Songs like Ek Tanete Jemon Temon and Jana Ajana gained huge popularity. The film Juddho, directed by Ravi Kinagi, was released in 2005, where Deboshree played Mithun's wife.
They also played husband and wife in the superhit films MLA Fatakeshto and Mahaguru. There are other films like Ferari Fouj, Tiger, and Shukno Lanka, in which they worked together, but did not pair up.
