Malayalam superstar Mohanlal is awaiting the release of his ambitious project, Malaikottai Vaaliban, which hits theatres on January 25. The eagerly-awaited movie, which is helmed by celebrated filmmaker Lijo Jose Pellissery, has been garnering the attention of cine-goers with its promising official trailer, which was released recently. The cast and crew members of Malaikottai Vaaliban are now busy promoting the period fantasy drama.
Mohanlal, who recently attended a promotional interview with the Cue Studios YouTube channel, revealed that he finally watched Mammootty’s acclaimed family drama Kaathal - The Core. The superstar, who is highly impressed with the Jeo Baby directorial, heaped praise on the veteran actor’s performance in the film.
Mohanlal praises Mammootty’s performance in Kaathal - The Core
In the interview, the Malaikottai Vaaliban actor revealed that he finally watched Kaathal - The Core, the much-loved Mammootty starrer. Mohanlal, who is clearly impressed by the family drama, stated that the megastar’s performance as Mathew Devassy is "absolutely beautiful". The crowdpuller of Malayalam cinema further added that playing such a character is a big challenge. The superstar also added that an actor has to be very lucky to find such characters.

Mohanlal, who also stated that such films are not a new thing in world cinema, said films like Kaathal - The Core happen when the industry changes with time. The Malaikottai Vaaliban actor, who is busy promoting Lijo Jose Pellissery’s film, further added that he wants to congratulate Mammootty personally and is planning to call him soon. Mohanlal further revealed that the megastar has also been watching most of the films. Even though the Bramayugam actor is not very expressive about his feelings, he usually congratulates ‘Lalu’ if he likes the film.

Mohanlal and Mammootty’s bond

Mohanlal, who fondly calls Mammootty ‘Ichakka’, has shared the screen with the megastar in over 55 films so far. But, despite all the onscreen rivalry, the celebrated actors continue to be close friends and have always stated that they are soul siblings .
Interestingly, the duo has played a large variety of characters, including best friends, siblings, and even father and son, on celluloid together. Recently, the National Award-winning actors were spotted together, along with their respective wives at the wedding cele brations of senior star Suresh Gopi’s daughter Bhagya with Shreyas.
