Samya Samadder, Arka Bhattacharjee, Sumit Pramanik, Subhashis Sikdar, Sounak Ray, Rajrani Das, Priyanka Bose, and Subhranil Samadder also feature in the series.
The veteran actor Paran Bandyopadhyay’s Panchphoron is all set to be dropped on MojoPlex on May 27. The series also features a host of young actors, including Samya Samadder, Arka Bhattacharjee, Sumit Pramanik, Subhashis Sikdar, Sounak Ray, Rajrani Das, Priyanka Bose, and Subhranil Samadder.
Paran seemed excited about the show. “This is perhaps the first Bengali sitcom that will take place in a digital space. I am looking forward to it. And I hope everybody enjoys the show," said the veteran actor whose recent work, Tonic, garnered him several awards this year. Speaking about receiving awards as the Best Actor, he said, “An award places a greater responsibility on a winner. It is also encouraging. I am glad that my work is being appreciated."
Talking about the set up, Indranil told the media, “Set in a dilapidated north Kolkata mess house, the series delves into the relationship between the owner, Dhaneswar Panchal (Paran Bandyopadhyay), and other tenants. Dhaneswar loves watching daily soaps while sipping country liquor. The owner wants the tenants to follow the rules he has set for the house. The five young tenants—a researcher, singer, waiter, photographer, a budding actor, and working professional—often cause trouble for the owner. It creates a laugh riot and takes the viewers on an interesting journey. In fact, Paranda’s comic timing can make you go "ROFL any day. I am sure people will love the show.”
Talking about the characters in the show, the director explained, “The first tenant is struggling to be a successful musician. Besides, he is a loudmouth and has a strong addiction to young girls. The second tenant is a researcher by profession but claims to be a scientist. He is a very reserved, calm, vegetarian who stays miles away from women. The third tenant is an aspiring actor. He is short-tempered and spends his days grooming and styling himself. He goes for auditions regularly. He’s also a thief. Another character works in a cafe. He is a simpleton from a village but a very cunning and stubborn type. These characters will make people laugh with them.”
Indranil was on an honourable jury at the Los Angeles Cinefest and Seattle International Film Festival. Earlier, he also had the horror anthology 4 Shades of Leap.
