In just over 4 weeks, Challenging Star Darshan’s second release for the year, Kaatera, will be in theatres. The Tharun Kishore Sudhir directed period film is releasing on December 29, which the team revealed only days ago. And they are ready to step on the gas as far as promotions go. Kicking it all off is the first single, Pasandagavane, which will be out on December 4 at 12.30 pm. A lyrical video of the V Harikrishna composition is what will be made available on Monday, but if the announcement poster is anything to go by, there will be fleeting visuals of leading man Darshan and his romantic interest, Aradhanaa Ram too.

Produced by Rockline Venkatesh, Kaatera is Tharun’s second full-fledged film with Darshan after Roberrt. The Kannada superstar had done an extended cameo in Tharun’s directorial debut, Chowkaa. Kaatera is a period film set in the 70s and is, according to the filmmaker, based on real events, exploring issues pertaining to the agricultural sector and farmers. The team has been guarded and has not revealed any other plot points about the film, which also stars Jagapathi Babu, Kumar Govind and Shruthi, among others.

Darshan, whose last release Kranti did not set the cash registers ringing, will look at ending the year on a positive note. The actor-director combination’s Roberrt had a decent level of success, which they will look at replicating with Kaatera. Darshan has promised his fans that they will see him in a never-before-seen avatar in the film. Interestingly, when the film’s title was revealed, the first poster that came out had sparked rumours that it is inspired by Tamil star Dhanush’s Karnan. There have not been any such reports since. Meanwhile, the film’s satellite and digital rights have already been sold, with Zee Network being the official partner.
