Ponniyin Selvan star Karthi to team up with THIS acclaimed filmmaker after Raju Murugan's Japan

2022 was a lucky year for Karthi - three outings, Viruman, Ponniyin Selvan 1 and Sardar, which were released in a span of less than 75 days - went on to reap profits. He was the only Tamil actor among those who had more than one release last year to have had a 100 percent success rate.

His next release is the most-anticipated Ponniyin Selvan 2. The magnum opus sequel will be released in theatres on April 28. The actor commenced shooting for Raju Murugan's Japan a while ago. The makers had released the first look of the movie recently featuring him in an outlandish look.

Now, we hear that Karthi is all set to join hands with Nalan Kumarasamy, who made a sensational directorial debut with Soodhu Kavvum a decade ago. His last notable theatrical outing was Vijay Sethupathi-starrer Kadhalum Kadandhu Pogum which was released in 2016.

He had made Aadal Paadal, one of the segments in Kutty Story, an anthology which was released in 2020. But his fans have been awaiting a full-fledged movie from him for a long time. Gnanavel Raja's Studio Green, which has bankrolled a few movies of Karthi in the past, will be producing the untitled project.

The film is said to be going on floors in the last week of February. An official announcement on the movie is expected to happen soon. Nalan, who has acted in a few movies, previously donned the greasepaint for Sibiraj-starrer Kattappava Kanom.

The production house Studio Green is currently bankrolling Vikram, Pa Ranjith's Thangalaan and Silambarasan's gangster flick Pathu Thala.
