Salaar, the much-awaited Prabhas film about the most violent man, is only a month away from release, but the makers seem to be in no haste to start its promotions. The teaser, which did not even give fans a satisfactory look at the star, came out in early July, and since then, there has been radio silence from the team. When OTTplay had reached out to the production house, Hombale Films, we were told that promotional interviews would begin only from September 14 and that the team would travel the country then.

As of today, the big buzz was that Bengaluru headquartered Hombale Films will launch the trailer of the Prashant Neel directorial on home ground, rather than in Hyderabad, even though Salaar is a Telugu film that’s being dubbed in other languages. If the trailer launches of the banner’s KGF movies are anything to go by, the Salaar event will be held at a city multiplex, with media from across the country in attendance. The team will not only introduce themselves and the film, but the distribution partners as well. The event, according to multiple social media messages, will have Rocking Star Yash in attendance.

Amid all this, the big question that remains is, why is the team being so guarded about all things Salaar? Prashant has apparently been working on the post-production at music director Ravi Basrur’s studio, while cast members are prohibited from speaking about the film or their roles. According to multiple reports, Salaar is supposed to be a massively upgraded version of his directorial debut Ugramm, which Prashant has denied. Ravi, though, once confirmed to the media, when he was asked if Salaar was a remake of Ugramm, stating, “That it is common knowledge”. Are the makers keeping Salaar under cover for as long as possible in the hope that audiences will not catch on to this connect till after the release?
