Pradeep Ranganathan's Love Today has clearly emerged as one of the favourites at the box office. The romantic comedy drama, which hit screens on November 4, has been receving steady footfalls at the box office even after four weeks since release. What's interesting is that despite new releases in the last two weeks, the film has managed to stay on top. Love Today marks Pradeep Ranganathan's debut as an actor. He has also written and directed the film. The star cast includes Ivana, Raveena Ravi, Yogi Babu, Sathyaraj and Radikaa Sarathkumar to name a few.
The Telugu version of the film hit screens last Friday and opened to phenomenal response from the audience. The theatres were fully packed and Pradeep received an overwhelming reception. Sharing a video from one of the theatres, Pradeep wrote on his social media handle, "#LoveTodayTelugu The love is universal .Felt surreal . Thankyou Telugu audience for receiving me and love today with lots of love . I LOVE YOU (sic)."
Interestingly, Love Today is an adaptation of Pradeep's short film titled App(a) Lock. The film has music by Yuvan Shankar Raja, cinematography by Dinesh Purushothaman and editing by Pradeep E Ragav. Love Today bankrolled by AGS Entertainment, has already surpassed Rs 70 crore at the box office. Incidentally, the film's title has been borrowed from the 1997 film of the same name which had Vijay and Suvalakshmi in the lead and was directed by Balasekaran.
Pradeep had earlier made Jayam Ravi's Comali (2019), which had Jayam Ravi and Kajal Aggarwal in the lead. The comedy drama revolved around a youngster who goes into coma for 16 years and when he wakes up, struggles to adapt to the new world. The film opened to positive reviews and the quirky concept grabbed many eyeballs. Comali, which also starred Yogi Babu, Samyuktha Hegde and KS Ravikumar, was declared a hit at the box office. The film marked Pradeep's debut as a director.
