No other filmmaker has come even close to Quentin Tarantino when it comes to cinema referencing and paying homage and tribute to the yesteryears. The man who has made some of the most iconic films is now working on his last film of his life (at least for now) as we speak. Tarantino is giving Hollywood a film titled "The Movie Critic" as a parting gift because he walks towards retirement after that. Now, as we are busy dissecting what this film is exactly about, a legendary filmmaker has simply revealed a part of the plot in an interview, and it is no one else but Paul Schrader.

So as we bring you this new plot detail, let’s take a look back at what this project is exactly about and what all we know so far.

What Is "The Movie Critic" About:

Quentin Tarantino’s "The Movie Critic" is about an irreverent film critic set in the 70s. Working in California, he reviews mainstream movies for a Porno magazine called Popstar Pages. This is the only brief about the movie that is available online. However, multiple reports have spoken about how "Taxi Driver" could be an inspiration for the maker or other classic Hollywood films.

The Cast:

So far, only one name is attached to "The Movie Critic," and it is that of Paul Walter Hauser. There are also rumors that the filmmaker is keen on casting his favorite actor, and no guesses, Leonardo DiCaprio. There is no confirmation on whether he is a part of the film or not, but if Tarantino wants you in his last film, why would you say no anyway?

The New Details:

Paul Schrader, as per Screenrant, has now given out some interesting details about the plot of the movie. He said, “Quentin will insert extracts from films from the 1970s. And he will also make his own versions of films from that era. He asked my permission to shoot the ending of [Rolling Thunder], by John Flynn, as I had written it in the original screenplay — before it was completely rewritten and watered down.” This means Quentin Tarantino will continue his trend of being heavily inspired by movies and carefully placing Easter Eggs and referencing.

When Should We Expect It:

"The Movie Critic" was to go on floors in Fall 2023, as per the reports before the SAG-AFTRA strikes, but the schedules of the entire industry went for a toss post that. So now there is no confirmation as to when to expect it. Stay tuned to OTTplay for more on this and everything else from the world of streaming and films.
