Rajinikanth's Thalaivar 171 is a bigger experiment than Leo, reveals cinematographer Manoj Paramahamsa

Cinematographer Manoj Paramahamsa is in top form with all the movies that he shot becoming huge blockbusters at the box office. He is now basking in the success of Leo, starring Thalapathy Vijay. Even as the frenzy around the humongous success of the movie has not slowed down, he seems to be already in the process of preparing for his next movie. 

Manoj Paramahamsa will again collaborate with director Lokesh Kanagaraj for his next. The upcoming project has been temporarily titled Thalaivar 171 and it stars Superstar Rajinikanth in the lead role. 

In a recent interview, the popular cinematographer shared a few technical details that will go on to define the visual aesthetics of Thalaivar 171. He described the upcoming project as more "challenging than Leo." 

"Lokesh told me the storyline of Thalaivar 171. It's an even bigger experiment than Leo. It's very challenging and exciting. It has a lot of VFX. And he wanted to shoot the movie on an IMAX camera," revealed Manoj.

However, at the moment the country doesn't have the technology to facilitate Lokesh's ambitious vision for the Rajinikanth starrer. "We only play digital IMAX. Unlike (Hollywood) we don't use true IMAX. But, Lokesh wants to shoot on IMAX film. The challenge is to find the labs that process these IMAX films. So we have decided to shoot a few episodes on IMAX. Since we will be shooting abroad, we are trying to select locations that have the labs to process the IMAX film," he added. 

Manoj noted that they are still researching the possibilities of fulfilling Lokesh's vision and they don't have a concrete plan yet.

It's noteworthy that Manoj also helped in converting Leo into an IMAX format. "It was a tough call managed to deliver it ! Thanks entire team for the tireless support !," Manoj had said earlier.

In the meantime, Lokesh will soon start the work on the script of Thalaivar 171. He's now busy with the post-release promotions for Leo.
