"From what I've heard, Rajkummar Rao will play the role (the titular role)...but there are issues of dates...so it will take more than a year to hit the screens," the Indian skipper said at the press conference.
Can Rajkummar Rao be replaced as Sourav Ganguly?
From Ranbir Kapoor to Ayushmann Khurrana, many Bollywood actors' names were linked to Sourav Ganguly biopic. It is only now that the skipper actually confirmed Rao to be a part of the project. Since the name is confirmed, the makers are most likely to be working out the dates with Rajkummar over moving ahead with another actor.

When asked about his name being associated with the biopic, Ranbir simply said that he was never approached for it and thus, he has no idea where the rumours started. The actor’s name was also linked to Kishore Kumar biopic.
As for Ayushmann Khurrana, the reports suggested that he was almost finalized for the project but the actor backed out, showing concern that there are too many biopics being made and thus, he needs more time to think. Now, finally, it looks like Sourav Ganguly’s project might be back on track.
