Ranbir Kapoor to fly to LA for Ramayana prep; Yash to only have an extended cameo in Part One – Here’s everything we know so far

The buzz around Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana has been intense for a couple of years now. The filmmaker has been aspiring to make his version of the epic mythological tale for ages now and it seems like his dream is finally coming true. While the filmmaker is all set to kick-start the shoot with Ranbir Kapoor and Sai Pallavi in March 2024, there is a new update about the preparation, the new-age technology involved, and also if Yash will join the cast or not. 

So far, reports suggest that Ramayana will star Ranbir Kapoor as Ram, Sai Pallavi as Sita, and Yash as Ravana. It was also said that Tiwari has approached Sunny Deol to play Lord Hanuman but whether the actor has said yes to the project or not is not clear. However, the latest update is that the movie will be shot with new technology. The test shoots, 3D scans, and preparation have been done already. 

The Latest Update:

As per Pinkvilla, a source close to the development said that Nitesh Tiwari is set to go on floors with Ramayana in February/March 2024. The movie is completely Tiwari’s brainchild, and Oscar-winning VFX company DNEG is helping him bring the vision to life. DNEG is also producing the movie. The pre-production has been concluded and it also involved Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi, and Yash.

Is Yash Playing Ravan?

According to the same report, Yash will be joining the Ramayana team in July 2024 after wrapping up Toxic. “Yash has an extended appearance in Ramayana: Part One, which is more of a story building of Ram and Sita with a character introduction of Hanuman. The second part will chronicle the arc of Raavan’s character and the actor is excited to enter this auspicious world of Nitesh Tiwari. Yash was bowled over by the visuals and the purity with which Nitesh intends to retell the Ramayana to the audience today.”

Ranbir Wil Take Off To LA:

Meanwhile, the source has also confirmed that we should expect the announcement anytime soon. Ranbir Kapoor will be flying to LA for tech rehearsals. “There is some tech rehearsal expected to take place in LA in January 2024 and RK will be off to the US for a couple of weeks. It's essentially for pre-viz,” the source concluded.
