Popular TV actress Ranjani Raghavan has not been seen or heard of much in recent times. It’s intentional, she says. “Since giving up on my TV journey after Kannadathi, I have been trying to find a foothold in Kannada cinema and while I have done a few projects, I am still in the process of finding my space in the industry and figuring out what I really want to do. The films that you will see me in the immediate future are projects that excited me at that point, but whether or not audiences also feel the same remains to be seen,” says Ranjani.

This week, the actress will be in Night Curfew, a murder mystery thriller that also has Action Queen Malashree in the lead. “It’s a story that takes place during the pandemic, which we shot for immediately thereafter. It is coming to theatres a tad late in the day, but I’m glad it is finally here. Malashree ma’am and I play doctors, who get caught up in some fishy events occurring in the hospital. How we extract ourselves and make things right forms the crux of the tale,” says Ranjani, adding that she’s not at liberty to talk about the film at length.

Sometime in May, Ranjani is hopeful that the investigative thriller Kangaroo, in which she has worked with Adityaa will be in theatres and thereafter, a film with her Hakuna Matata co-star Vijay Raghavendra, directed by Baraguru Ramachandrappa, which is based on his novel.

‘’All these films are complete and should be in theatres this year. I have not signed anything new in a while, as I want to firmly break off from my TV image and chart a different path in cinema. It is easier said than done, but I am actively working towards that. In the meantime, I have been keeping myself busy with some writing pursuits; I have published a book as well,” she tells us.
