Hootie & the Blowfish shall hit the road in Summer 2024, for a musical tour of almost 4 months. They will warble across 43 cities, all over North America, along with guest stars Collective Soul and Edwin McCain. Barenaked Ladies shall also perform specially in the Fenway Park, Boston show, on June 21.
The tour begins in Dallas on May 30 and continues through Detroit, Cincinnati, Bangor, Seattle, Chicago, Colombia, Toronto, Tampa, among others, before ending on September 28 in Florida. This is the band’s first full-time tour since 2019, and the second time since 2007 when the band took a sabbatical.
The quartet of Hootie & the Blowfish crossed paths at the University of South Carolina, comprising vocalist Darius Rucker, lead guitarist Mark Bryan, bassist Dean Felber, and drummer Jim Sonefeld. The band began its journey as early as 1986, but they hit the jackpot of limelight with their double diamond-certified album (as of 2018) Cracked Rear View, for crossing 20 million units in sale.
Released in 1994, the album reached its peak in 1995, reaching No. 1 on the Billboard 200 five times. Cracked Rear View also won the band two GRAMMY Awards, a Billboard Music Award, an MTV Video Music Awards, as well as numerous People’s Choice Awards.
In a press release, Bryan said, “Basically overnight, our lives changed when Cracked Rear View did what it did- and yet as we quickly moved from vans and college bars to tour buses and arenas, not much else changed with how we approached making music and sharing it with our fans.”
Tickets go live at 10am on Nov.10, at Hootie.com. Pre-sale bookings open at noon on Nov. 7 for Blowfish e-newsletter subscribers and Citi cardholders and will be live till 10pm, Nov. 9.
