Arun Matheswaran made a mark with his first directorial film, Rocky, a bloody, gritty action thriller. The most recent news about the film is that the makers have sold its Hindi remake rights.
The remake rights of the action thriller have been acquired by Wakaoo Films. The news was confirmed by Nayanthara and Vignesh Shivan’s Rowdy Pictures. Rowdy Pictures, who distributed the film, took to Twitter to reveal the news.
“This is happening. We are very happy to share that the Hindi remake rights of #ROCKY have been acquired by @wakaoofilms," wrote the official handle of Rowdy Pictures, also sharing a photo of the announcement.
Written and directed by Arun Matheswaran, the action thriller stars Vasanth Ravi and Bharathirajah in the lead roles, along with Raveena Ravi and Rohini playing pivotal roles. The action sequences were directed by Dinesh Subbarayan with music by Darbuka Siva and cinematography by Shreeyas Krishna.
"The movie has a wafer-thin storyline that is as old as the hills. But Rocky is another testimony to the fact that an engaging screenplay, intriguing characters, and captivating production style would hold the interest of the viewers," reads Rocky’s review on OTTPlay.
The movie was greeted with great reviews and reactions following its release, and also had some big names from the film industry appreciate it.
Dhanush wrote, "This film is an absolute GEM!! Watch out for some very strong performances. Especially from my beloved Bharathiraja sir."
The makers also released a video where Bollywood star Anil Kapoor goes gaga over Rocky.
