Kannada film aficionados who are used to seeing production houses – big and small – making timely official announcements about cast, crew and other relevant information, are not sure what to make of KVN Productions’ approach as far as Rocking Star Yash’s Toxic goes. It’s been known for a while that the banner is backing #Yash19, but that’s about all that they’ve put in the public domain so far. In December 2023, the title was announced, along with official confirmation of Geetu Mohandas as director, and that Yash’s home banner, Monster Mind Creations, was co-producing.
Since then, there’s not been a word from the banner. Media reports citing sources said that Kareena Kapoor Khan was on board, as also Shruthi Haasan and Kiara Advani. Then it was reported that Kareena left the project citing date issues, which, yet again, sources claim is far from the truth. Kareena apparently left because of creative differences . In no time, fresh rumours sprang that the makers have approached Nayanthara for the role that Kareena gave up.
This, we hear, is the role of Yash’s sister, which is pivotal to the narrative and requires a seasoned and well-known artiste. Nayanthara has not done a Kannada film since Super, opposite Real Star Upendra. Then again, this is not information that has come from an official channel. Fans have taken to social media urging the banner to provide new updates about the film. Stating that it is frustrating to not hear anything about the film, fans add that they’ve had enough of reports quoting sources, which may or may not be reliable.
They want it straight from the horse’s mouth now. Considering that the shoot of Toxic has started in Bengaluru, it is about time KVN Productions sets the record straight, fans reckon, citing Hombale Films as example and how the banner had given fans timely updates.
