Venkat Prabhu's Maanaadu has completed 25 days of run and is still attracting movie buffs. The political thriller, starring Silambarasan in the lead, is now set for a premiere on SonyLIV this Friday. The team held a success meet earlier today in the presence of media and crew members.
However, Silambarasan did not attend the event; it is said that he is busy shooting for the final schedule of Gautham Menon's Venthu Thaninthathu Kaadu. Senior filmmaker SA Chandrasekhar, who also played a key role in Maanaadu, expressed his displeasure over the actor skipping the success meet.
He said, "I'm sad that Silambarasan is not here to celebrate the occasion. Being the hero of the movie, it would have been good had he attended the success event. It's true that the film's success will pave way to his much-expected comeback. But he shouldn't have skipped this event no matter how busy he is in shooting."
All praise for director Venkat Prabhu, musician Yuvan Shankar Raja, editor Praveen and SJ Suryah, he said that the success of the movie is another testimony to the fact that a good screenplay will always be encouraged by movie buffs. He also went on to address Yuvan as the '2K version of Ilaiyaraaja'.
Chandrasekhar also went on to add that he has been offered three roles right after the success of Maanaadu and that he rejected them politely. He said, "I'm happy that the audience accepted me in the role of a good Chief Minister in the film. Venkat succeeded in portraying a good-natured CM. However, all the three roles I have been offered now require me to play Chief Ministers. I don't want to repeat the character I essayed recently, and hence, expressed my disinterest to them."
