Sanam Teri Kasam 2: Not Mawra Hocane but Shraddha Kapoor to romance Harshvardhan Rane in the sequel? Here's what we know

When Sanam Teri Kasam was originally released in 2016, the film did not perform well at the box office. Starring Harshvardhan Rane and Mawra Hocane, the film failed to create any buzz back then. However, the film was re-released in theatres on February 7, 2025, and it has been receiving immense love and attention from fans making the film one of the highest grossers. Amid this, news about Sanam Teri Kasam 2 has come and Shraddha Kapoor's name has been taken for the female lead. 

Shraddha Kapoor in Sanam Teri Kasam 2?

Shraddha Kapoor was last seen in the blockbuster movie, Stree 2, opposite Rajkummar Rao. Amid this rave reviews of Sanam Teri Kasam re-release, news about Sanam Teri Kasam 2 emerged. In a recent conversation with writer-director duo Radhika Rao and Vinay Sapru, Shraddha Kapoor's name came up as a possible female lead in the sequel. 

In an interview with Instant Bollywood, the writer-director duo were told that some fans want Shraddha Kapoor opposite Harshvardhan Rane in Sanam Teri Kasam 2. Hearing this, Radhika said, “Shraddha ko please tag kardo.”

As we know Mawra Hocane’s character Saraswati aka Saru died in her lover Inder’s arms in the film, so a new character has to be made. But whether it will be Mawra reprising her character or Shraddha, only time will tell. 

After the news spread, fans of Shraddha expressed their joy while some were against it. 

Mawra Hocane wishes to be a part of Sanam Teri Kasam 2

Talking to Connect Cine on video, Mawra Hocane expressed her wish to be a part of Sanam Teri Kasam 2. She said, "Agar possible hua toh of course, I would also love to."

Meanwhile, the director duo Radhika Rao and Vinay Sapru revealed that they have locked the script of Sanam Teri Kasam 2 and if things go as planned, the film might be released next year on Valentine's Day (2026).

Meanwhile, Sanam Teri Kasam is running at a theater near you and it is also available for streaming on ZEE5 (OTTplay Premium).
